This Old Chevy
This old Chevy was a sight to see
When he bought it back in '63
Now the paint is worn, the passenger seat is torn
Safely stored in his garage like a memory
This old Chevy was a mean machine
Tinted windows, power steering, sleek and clean
Deep Daytona blue, the hot leather still smelled new
Meant to be on a movie screen
The kind of car he'd always dreamed
And this old Chevy took him everywhere
Late night drive-in, high school dances, the county fair
The place he first made love lit by the stars above
Back before he had a care
What he'd give to go back there
This old Chevy had a thunderous roar
When he pushed that pedal to that floor
That cold October night, an old friend to his right
LIke a thousand times before
When it all changed forevermore
In a flash, the headlights smashed, the metal soared
This old Chevy was a sight to see
When he bought it back in '63
Now the paint is worn, the passenger seat is torn
Locked away in his garage with the memory
