Built in 1857
It's a little slice of heaven
Here on Broad St
And though the congregation comes and goes
All throughout the years
She watches over them
From the fireworks on the 4th
To the fish frys on her back porch
This church welcomes sinners
Just like friends
We hold hands
And we pray
Livin life and findin our own way
All kinds gather neath this worn and weathered steeple
Pray for peace, for each other
This old church
Lovin' God lovin' people
Well the fire almost did her in
But then the hand of God pitched in
And saved her
Through the weddings and the joy it brings
Children baptized, choirs sing, their hymns
A baby cries, young boys pout
From the pulpit, fire and brimstone shouts
And old man Jones sleeps through
The sermon again
We hold hands
And we pray
Livin life and findin our own way
All kinds gather neath this worn and weathered steeple
Pray for peace, for each other
This old church
Lovin' God lovin' people
All the people that I love the most
My best friends, the holy ghost
We show up in our best clothes
On Sunday
The hymns were all sung
Way off key
And loud
Hard working tight community
That's proud
We hold hands
And we pray
Livin life and findin our own way
All kinds gather neath this worn and weathered steeple
Pray for peace, for each other
This old church
Lovin' God lovin' people
Pray for peace
For each other
This old church
Lovin' God lovin' people
