3 o'clock in the morning thru an open window
He caught the smell of a cigarette from the sidewalk below
There stood a lady in a fur coat sipping from a bottle of pinot
He inquired what's your destination but she did not seem to know
He could tell that she was free from guilt with a bulletproof ego
She asked for hospitality before the sun begins to glow
Then as she brushed by him thru the front door he felt each heartbeat start to grow
And when the fur coat hit the floor well the next thing you know
Then all at once she took it away
The only thing left behind
Was the circling never ending memory
Of what took place on that night
No halo is gonna save him now
So there he waited every night until the daylight took away all of the hope
That she'd return and he would relive the love only she could bestow
But just as those ill-fated feelings set in right thru that open window
Came the smell of her cigarette and the next thing you know
