1541 - Church Musings, Pt. 2 Lyrics

Hmm. Huh
More church musings, man
I don't even know how to say this
Here it is

Hey Natalie, I appreciate you showing me
How to be vulnerable, it took courage, undoubtedly
And allowing me to take time, to hear your story
I may cry, but hearing you sharing it can change lives
The way I grew up, wow, I can't imagine
It's tragic and traumatic, how something like that can happen
And it's like, I wasn't there when you were nine
But at the same time, my cousin shared a friend of hers went through the same, I
Have much to say but I'm afraid my
Little words can't take away the pain, rhymes
Help me to express what's inside, find it healthy to connect
All the dots in my life, but it seldom means I get
To just check the box and it's gone
Done, never have to deal with it again and move on
Nah, but there's healing in the listening, so if you're listening
Know I'm sorry, thanks for sharing, and I'm glad you visited (Yo)

It takes the church to heal church hurt, yeah
I need the church...listen, a healthy one
Praying for a church, yeah
Praying for a church, yeah
Praying for a church, yeah, listen, a healthy one
Ay, it takes the church to heal world hurt, huh?
Sin, yeah...hits everyone
Praying for a church, yeah
Praying for a church, yeah
Praying for a church, yeah, listen, a healthy one

Hey Jay, I hear you're angry, and I gotta say
Man, that's a lotta weight to carry, know it's gotta take
A lotta time to feel safe, and a lotta guys, sadly
Honestly, never deal with this the real way
It's hard to open up, especially as a man
Even more, if dad was far when you were growing up
And even more, with parents arguing and throwing stuff
And dad treating your mom like she was garbage, never owning up
And even more if his habits started showing up
In your own family, damaging, home's a broken one
Difference is you showed enough, courage to own it
Asked for forgiveness, and I'm told the tears were flowing
Don't get, an impression that they were fake
Not perfect yet? I ain't either, but you've sure changed
Sure, days I make mistakes too, I punched a hole in a door
My dad fixed it, seeing healing and I'm hoping for more

It takes the church to heal church hurt, yeah
I need the church...listen, a healthy one
Praying for a church, yeah
Praying for a church, yeah
Praying for a church, yeah, listen, a healthy one
Ay, it takes the church to heal world hurt, huh?
Sin, yeah...hits everyone
Praying for a church, yeah
Praying for a church, yeah
Praying for a church, yeah, listen, a healthy one

Hey, when we talk about health, what does it look like?
We all figure it out for ourselves, and try to look right?
Look, might sound appealing to some (Not me), but the truth is
Of all of us, Jesus is really the only healthy one
So, he's where it begins, a church is healthy
Only to the extent it's comparing to him
And sharing he lived, died, and rose again
Those events are the answer to our sin and our brokenness
Know it is, only the gospel that can change hearts
A healthy church is holding it out as the main part
Grace. Faith starts with us hearing, and healthy churches are preaching
Line by line, exegesis, rightly dividing the Bible's teaching
And Jesus gets every bruised reed
Only Savior, his approval is everything you need
Do please, find a church that's good at listening and living this
None are perfect, I ain't either, but I love the church and Christ has given it his life

Wanted a moment of silence here, but enough of that
Time to speak out against the church covering up and contributing to abuse
How dare you quote 1 Corinthians 6?!
Sexual abuse and domestic violence aren't trivial things, they're crimes!
And Paul wrote Romans 13 too
Stop smearing God's name and word, handle it rightly
He didn't spare his own Son. Justice will come

It takes the church to heal church hurt, yeah
I need the church...listen, a healthy one
Praying for a church, yeah
Praying for a church, yeah
Praying for a church, yeah, listen, a healthy one
Ay, it takes the church to heal world hurt, huh?
Sin, yeah...hits everyone
Praying for a church, yeah
Praying for a church, yeah
Praying for a church, yeah, listen, a healthy one

Silence please
