The musical is based on Charles Dickens' 1843 novella of the same name. The famous story is about Scrooge's long-suffering employee Bob Cratchit, and Bob's crippled son Tiny Tim. Ebeneazer Scrooge is a miser, and refuses to give any raises to Bob Cratchit, thereby almost insuring that Tiny Tim will die. As the story proceeds, Scrooge falls asleep and is visited by the Ghost of Christmas Past, the Ghost of Christmas Present, and the Ghost of Christmas Future, who finally convince him to see the error of his ways and have a change of heart. This is one of the most endearing Christmas stories in the world about the true meaning of the spirit of Christmas, and it has been endlessly adapted into movies and other idioms.
