Adam McCorkle - Daddy's Home Lyrics

Late at night when I was 5 years old, Momma came and said back your bags
This one is for all your clothes and the other is for what else you have
So we sat out on the front porch to wait for him to get back home
Daddy pulled up as the sun came up, and that's when we were gone

Well I've got family, and I've got friends
But I miss my Daddy so much in the end
And I've kin folk, and I got dogs
But I left my heart back at Daddy's home

Momma said he can "kiss her ass" as we started to drive away
I turned around in that back seat and watched him slowly fade away
We drove away for 3 damn days, and pulled up at Granny's house
That's where we lived for the next 6 years, and that's when Mom moved out

Well I've got family, and I've got friends
But I miss my Daddy so much in the end
And I've kin folk, and I got dogs
But I left my heart back at Daddy's home

I stayed back with Granny and worked that farm every day
I plowed the fields with the tractor until Grandma passed away
I was 17 years old when we laid her in the ground
I took the farm truck out of the barn and drove back to Daddy's house

Well I've got family, and I've got friends
But I miss my Daddy so much in the end
And I've kin folk, and I got dogs
But I left my heart back at Daddy's home
