Wake wake up
The lines are drawn too wide
Where freedom of thought is just pushed to the side
Awake awake
The roots should still run deep
With some truths to honor and ideals we can't keep
Watching the buzzwords fly filling the air
Everyone's woke but does anyone care?
Virtue's on sale hashtags in bloom
Do they fight for change or just chase the room?
What is the goal when the rules are a mess?
Who's the oppressor and who gets to bless?
The louder they get the less that we know
Is this a movement or just for show?
Some shout for justice but can't feel their feet
All this talk but they're stuck on repeat
Chasing the moment but it slips like sand
So what's the point when they don't understand?
Go woke or go broke they say it so bold
But who's really paying when the story's been sold?
You follow the trend but the crowd's turned away
Now who's going broke when the art starts to fade?
Wake wake up
The lines are drawn too wide
Where freedom of thought is just pushed to the side
Awake awake
The roots should still run deep
With some truths to honor and ideals we can't keep
Looking around we talk the talk
But can we walk it or just stalk the block?"Equality for all" we cry out loud
But the loudest voices seem lost in the crowd
The memes the trends they all collide
But what's forgotten when the past is denied?
They shout and scream but what's left to claim
When the things they loved are never the same
Like a story untold fading in the wind
The memories fade where do they begin?
Those voices loudest yet hollow and cold
Afraid of losing the stories they told
They shout so loud like they've found their crown
But the louder they get the more they drown
Tinkering with things that were never broke
Now they're choking on the words they spoke
The louder they shout the more they conceal
Why chase the past if you can't make it real
Change can't be rushed there is nothing to borrow
If they want to build just aim for tomorrow
Wake wake up
The lines are drawn too wide
Where freedom of thought is just pushed to the side
Awake awake
The roots should still run deep
With some truths to honor and ideals we can't keep
If everyone's woke what's left to wake?
Both sides are blind but who's making the stake?
One tears it down the other can't see
Both missing the point but pretending they're free
