Ninety degrees on the Outer Banks
Emerald Isle is sparkling with waves
It's another beautiful day on the
Coast of North Carolina
Sea oats are bending with the wind
The shoreline disappears as I steer this cutter rig
The dimples on my daughter's face give away her grin
She won't look at me, but I know she's smilin'
Abandoning Chicago and the house in Humboldt Park
And the man next door who aimed his cameras at our yard
I believe the ocean is where you find your love
So this engineer built a boat
But I won't forget that time at the Garden of the Gods
When my spirit was escaping
We drove eleven hundred miles to those rocks
I had an awakening
I found a soft spot inside of me
For deep blue skies and big horned sheep
It's seven thousand feet taller than NC
A mountain emerging from Colorado Springs
But the two of us are racing through the waves
And getting splashed
Exhilarated by the tide
Chasing after who knows what, and hoping it will last
"Oh my gosh! This is the best time ever!"
"It's just me and my dad!"
Gliding into Beacon's Reach at 11PM
Beneath a moon that's beaming just as much as Ashton
Into her heart, she's welding the memory
A moment can redefine your life, by the mountain or by the sea
