As the dust settles
In this life that I call my own
I can pay more attention to the angle of the light
Now the sun's reached its height
As it starts to descend again
I can find my way better as I head into the night
And all the wasted time I thought had flown away
Has come around
I should say
I know the days aren't mine anyway
Now
As the din softens
In this life that I'm pushing through
I can hear those old voices as they echo in the dark
"You think that life can change, boy"
"Don't you know where you're from"
"There's nothing you can do about it"
"Don't think you're so smart"
But all the Sages Of Yesterday have done for me
Was help to push me out
Every judgement answered by a silent scream
Loud enough to drown them out
Drown
Them
Out
