With stocky bodies and limbs, they're formidable
On each furry paw they have five fixed claws
Ideal for mauling prey with vicious force
Though they're mostly gentle
And they love to play and wrestle
Bears have two coats making up their shaggy fur
Depending on the species it varies in colour
The first coat has long hair that protects the skin
The others dense layers of hair to stop them freezing
Due to great eyesight
They're able to detect when fruits are ripe
They're omnivorous animals whose
Diet includes meat
Fruit, nuts, herbs and seeds
Sloth bears also eat insects
Which they actively hunt
Using their sticky tongue
Their long lowered lips
Are developed
For specific eating habits
Polar bears are regarded as
Marine mammals due to
Dependance on ocean food
They're intelligent animals
With great memories
And navigational abilities
If separated from mothers
The cubs will moan and cry
Which can last a long time
Bears will often grieve
For close family
As they are known to care deeply
They'll risk their lives and fight til
The death to protect loved ones
From endangerment
