You were the girl
Reading a book by the riverbank
And I thought it funny on a sunny day
You chose to use the light in another way
I'm not here to judge
I found it a wonder in this time
That the boy on the bridge
Could find a one who shunned the city life
And I wonder what adventure those pages could have told
About far off lands from the desert to the frigid cold
About heroes and castles, the darkness and passages that blur the lines
I thought I could read the part of "I love you"... maybe in another life
I didn't make the trip
Down the precarious hill by the bank, of the lip
Of the river's edge
Where you escaped from town
It seemed I was not
A character in your tale
A cut from the script
Every word's not as important
But I wonder at the adventure if you only took my hand
I'll take the keep, you fight the dragon - this is our fantasy land
We are both the authors of this grand spectacular life
I only hope that the novel
Was as good as our chapter we might have been
I'll write it off as
The missing section
