In many days before and aft
On beating wings and up on backs
We'd gather all the children at His feet
He'd tell a tale as if He knew
His days as King would soon be few
And we loved Him as we listened to Him speak
A day would come when all would fall
A day would come when few'd recall
The glory of His Majesty so Green
A man would come to cut Him down
And He would fall without a sound
And leave us weeping tears for our Once-King
No! We cried, it can't be true
Don't leave us so, we live for you
And He would smile and carry on His tale
Upon His lap we'd fall asleep
All through the night, in dreams we'd weep
As the face of our Once-King began to pale
And so it was as it was said
The axes came and our King was dead
His prophecy came true despite our cries
Though many years have come and gone
A new day comes and it won't be long
As the Greens of our new Prince climb toward the skies
And so it was as it was said
The axes came and our King was dead
His prophecy came true despite our cries
Though many years have come and gone
A new day comes and it won't be long
As the Greens of our new Prince climb toward the skies
