Well daddy had a problem with the pills back in the day
And momma ran off with another man sometimes it just works that way
But my granny and my papa and the good lord were on my side
Cause daddy finally gave up pills and moms making up lost time
It ain't always pretty when you come from where I came
But there's a thousand more different people I know have seen the same old thing
It made me who I am so I'll take it all with a grin
The hard times ain't forever and sometimes the losers win
Well life has taught me things that the school system left out
Call it what you want as for me I've got my doubts
After school detention and suspension freshman year
Well I can't balance my checkbook but I can roll a joint and drink a beer
It ain't always pretty when you come from where I came
But there's a thousand more different people I know have seen the same old thing
It made me who I am so I'll take it all with a grin
The hard times ain't forever and sometimes the losers win
