Destroyed one thousand years ago
A region of gas and dust where new stars form
Limited by our understanding of reality and time
We observe this stellar landscape
As something fixed
As the solid foundation of existence
Perception of time is just an illusion
The architecture of the cosmos forever changing
Tendrils of dark cosmic particles
Seared by intense emission of energy
Eroded by galactic winds of massive stars
For our senses they are still intact
The majestic display unveiled
When we look at the sky we see our past
When we reach for the stars no reality lasts
The pillars of creation
The cradle of suns
Born from a dead star
Obliterated mercilessly
Once again reduced to ash
