Paul Simon is making a miraculous return to the road this spring and summer with the announcement of "A Quiet Celebration Tour."
Just two years ago, Simon feared that he would never be able to perform live again after suffering severe hearing loss while recording his latest album, Seven Psalms. However, after collaborating with the Stanford Initiative to Cure Hearing Loss, the 83-year-old musician found a viable solution which included repositioning the monitors on stage in a specific way. This past weekend, Simon performed live on SNL's 50th anniversary special, teaming up with
Sabrina Carpenter for a duet of
Homeward Bound.
Now, he’s announced dates for extensive North American tour kicking off in April that will see Simon perform selections from Seven Psalms and other songs from his catalog. He’ll be joined on stage by a band consisting of Caleb Burhans (viola), Jamey Haddad (percussion), Gyan Riley (guitar), Mick Rossi (piano, keys), Andy Snitzer (saxophone), Nancy Stagnita (flute), Mark Stewart (guitar), and Eugene Friesen (Cello). Steve Gadd and Matt Chamberlin will alternate on drums.
