The Texas heat
Well its something to rely on
When theres not much to rely on
And certainty
Seems only for the crazed
I guess I understand
The craze about it
But I don't wanna be
The girl standing
Under the lamplights anymore
Been there once twice
So many times before
I let my heart drift
A little too far ahead
And the moon a metaphor
For all things
Hiding their battered side
On the bed
Swallowing these rocks
You'd think I'd get a boost
From all the minerals
But I've been going at this
Sometime in the waiting room
With a man without hands
Beating me too
At a game I've played before
But forgotten the rules
So if you know em
Won't you please whisper them
Back to me
I can't wake up from this nothing
Solitary
Wondering why to bother besides
For the people you see
That tell me they're so proud
We love you
Through the smog and grief
Sometimes I think
That things are getting better
So something must go wrong
I get these headaches and the weather
So unpredictable
Filling our lungs with mold
And I hope as I grow old
I get a little bit bolder
Swallowing these rocks
You'd think I'd get a boost
From all the minerals
But I've been going at this
Sometime in the waiting room
With a man without hands
Beating me too
At a game I've played before
But forgotten the rules
So give the guy your
Red ticket to the carousel
Constant pirouettes that drag you
Back down to hell
I've got nothing left but bile
So you can tell
The black eyed dog
That I've got nothing left
To keep him well
To keep me well
