New year's day came and I'm onto resolutions
To solve the habits that take months or years to break
I probably should've started when I had the chance not long ago
But I pushed it all away

Annually, I tell myself that it's a new me
Every year, I tell myself that I'm finally gonna make a change
But every year, late January, I wake up to the thought of something scary
What if maybe this year is the same
What if maybe I can't fix my brain, ha

Pockets poor and heart is broken
Mind confused, legs not working
To change the path I've always turned to
Why is it so hard to see

Can't fix my brain, can't change my name, I've done bad things I can't retake
I feel a mess, and life is stressing me out
Can't say I'm sorry just to fix it, can't replace the days I've missed
Feel low in this spot but I done picked it, all these shots I take too distant
It's like I'm trying to fix up my life, And, I know how my problems arrived
Created most of them myself at night, thinking these thoughts without answers in sight
I'd turn to God, but I think I'll wait, there's no way in Heaven or hell
That he would accept me, cause I've made mistakes, God can try to relate
But He never could ever get passed all my sins
Oh He died for my sins? Oh He bled on a cross? Oh tomorrow's a new day to be who I want
So I'm taking these losses
Wherever the cost is at
My wallet's out, I'll pay the fee, whatever the price comes out to be
I don't want to live life deep in sin
Dirty water with tides that's pulling me in
I'd give all that I have, to break away fast from what's holding me in, and relinquish sin's grasp
I didn't realize this year would be deadly
Like years in the past where I'd hear what you'd tell me
But I didn't listen, I tried to dismiss it
I'm elate I finally took time to address it
And all that I have to do is believe
Give you my heart, Lord give you all of me
And the fact, that's all you need for all I get
I feel unworthy but I'm worthy to you yes
Just trust in God, and break the chains
Jesus suffered the cross to carry sin's weight
So I don't have to wait, I can do it today
