A little house in the Ozarks tucked way back 'hind the trees
This ain't the first time his hand's brought her to her knees
But this is gonna' be the last time he'll raise his hand again
She's waitin' 'till the lights go out to try him for his sins
She can tell by his breathin' his fists are fast asleep
She kneels down at the foot of the bed and prays the Lord her soul to keep
Tip-toes out the back door and she finds that old gas can
And with a strike of a white tipped match she makes her final stand
She knows inside it's wrong but she couldn't take it anymore
Dr. Jekyll turned to Hyde when he came through that front door
And the fire will burn but she won't turn around to see the glare
One strike from a white tipped match has brought an end to her nightmare
When the sheriff pulled up she was sittin' in the road
He stepped out and shook his head and she did what was told
And as they drove off from the scene you couldn't break her stare
All she saw was the end of it all and a flame that seemed so fair
She knows inside it's wrong but she couldn't take it anymore
Dr. Jekyll turned to Hyde when he came through that front door
And the fire will burn but she won't turn around to see the glare
One strike from a white tipped match has brought an end to her nightmare
