Saviour Of Children Lyrics

Saviour Of Children Lyrics

1. Saviour of children, children would adore Thee,
A little Child upon a Mother's knee,
And would in lowly reverence bow before Thee,
And own Thee God from all eternity.

2. On Christmas Day we heard the Gospel story
Which tells how angels praise Thee at Thy birth,
Then with our feeble voices sang Thy glory,
And praised Thee for Thy coming down to earth.

3. Today Thy Church would have us tell Thy praises
For him whose words proclaim Thee God above,
Words that on eagle wings to heaven upraise us --
Who teaches little children they should love.

4. How blest was he who might in faith and meekness
Lean, gentle Saviour, on Thy loving breast;
Yet Thou Who feelest for our mortal weakness
Wilt bear Thy lambs in that sweet place of rest.

5. How blest was he to whom Thy Mother holy
Thou didst commend whilst hanging on the Tree;
O Lord, may we, submissive, meek, and lowly,
Obey our parents for the love of Thee.

6. Saviour of children, listen to our singing,
And grant that we one day with Thee may dwell,
And where Thy saints' and angels' songs are ringing
Thy love to us Thy little ones may tell.
