If we turn out the lights
There'll be nothing left of who we are
Outgrown dragons and knights
We're still children afraid of the dark
Why do bad things happen to good folk? And
Why do we live in a world so broken?
If the lightbulbs die will we too?
Please end it fast and make it few
Will we see the morning if the sirens are roaring with you?
We can lower our gaze
Lower our flags with the dead
Try our best to be brave
God can't be turning his head
We can post a hashtag-pray-for-blank on twitter
But what does that get us but a new profile picture?
Only two lightbulbs will they last?
Please don't let pressure break their glass
The situation is dire when they light a fire with gas
When I was small
I thought there was good in humanity
As the last bulb burns off
I wonder if this is a fantasy
We live in fear with nothing but candles
Why watch horror movies when we've got news channels?
Every lightbulb is dead and gone
But the only thing what they've won
Is the gift of our toughness as we wait for justice and dawn
