Coamhim - The Apathetic Sun Lyrics

The universe was empty in the beginning of the story
So according to those of astrophysical glory
And devoid of the light always emitted by the Sun
The nourishment that fell on all as all of life begun
To seek after itself in the hungry piece puzzle-er
Some photosynthesis and a DNA tousle
Led us up to the modern-day struggle on the third one from the source
The life-giving force giving without remorse
And of course the divine is gonna shine
Even when her wicked children play blind to the signs
Organisms under schism of a bitter, brittle wisdom
Tendency to be destroyer is a very human ism
Yeah, we're catching a bad patch of the home-sick blues
And she, the very same, dies under ignorant shoes
Is it garbage, is it greed, is it God, is it guns
Headed back to the darkness under apathetic Sun

The Sun, it shines for you
And The Sun, it shines for me
The Sun, it shines for oxygen
And oxygen is still free
The Sun, it shines for me
And The Sun, it shines for you
The Sun, it shines for both of us
'Cause it don't know what else to do

Now they say that the odds are a 10 to the whatever
And I'm sitting here thinking the universe is pretty clever
To successfully attain such an impossible endeavor
And wrapping my head around all that infinite forever
So I take a little look, and I do mean very little
Up at all the everything of which I'm somewhere in the middle
And I'm drowning in my spirit and my special and my spittle
Down here on the ground astounded by the oh-so ancient riddle
If there's so much room so out there in this mega-universe
Why did Mother Nature keep me isolated in her purse
And why, like a bad dream, are there so many people mean
When there's only so much time on this whole planet of green
So I'm sticking to the Earth, the only one I've ever known
At the point where I woke up on my disintegrating home
And until they find another this will be the only one
Where I whither with the world 'neath the apathetic Sun

The Sun, it shines for you
And The Sun, it shines for me
The Sun, it shines for oxygen
And oxygen is still free
The Sun, it shines for me
And The Sun, it shines for you
The Sun, it shines for both of us
'Cause it don't know what else to do

So I'll be zen like The Sun
Till the day I burn out
Unless, of course, it goes before me in which case I didn't count
High enough to encompass all the things I couldn't fix - sure
But I will never regret being caught up in this mixture
It's a bona fide wild ride straight to the end of it
On a good-enough side to live on the sentimental
Gratitude for not being locked up in a kennel
After all, in the end, The Universe is just a rental
So with a foot in the grave and an eye on the sky
As long as you can handle splitting a dichotomy's illusion
Take a risk for the light, 'cause once you're born you gotta try a way
To maintain flight once the angel's gone and fly away
And never giving in to the taking 'em out of it
Other places in the spaces we can both be proud of
Little time that remains until this chapter's written, done
And we can warm our cold souls in the apathetic Sun

The Sun, it shines for you
And The Sun, it shines for me
The Sun, it shines for oxygen
And oxygen is still free
The Sun, it shines for me
And The Sun, it shines for you
The Sun, it shines for both of us
'Cause it don't know what else to do
