Standing in line at the grocery store
Got my coupon in hand
Anxious to save my fifty-five cents
On this box of raisin bran
From sun up to sun down
It's finally my turn
So I hand my items to the clerk
I hoped for the best but I got the worst
"I can't take this," she said
An angry scowl on her face
"Why not?" I demandedly asked
And she pointed to the expiration date
"It expired three weeks ago" she clabbered
I turned to my time machine
Wondering exactly what to do
And I asked that to the clerk
Who just replied it's up to you
I sat and thought
I had to formulate a plan
I wasn't going to pay full price
For this box of raisin bran
Suddenly I had it
An idea just popped into my head
Then I quickly forgot it
And I was back to square one instead
All I had was this expired coupon
A box of raisin bran and a time machine
What could I do
What if you were in my shoes
You laugh now but one day it could be you
Standing in line at a grocery store
With only an expired coupon and a time machine
