The wood of where we once were swells with the dark rain
The frames that still stand wobble at the downward force of the downpour
A hurricane tore the roof off years ago
Now me and the house stand naked under the night sky
Little of the house remains
It seems to moan in the wind
I remember this house being haunted
Now it seems even the ghosts abandoned it
The marks in the floor where we put our bed washed away with the rest of the house
The rain is relentless
There's no trace of our ever having lived here
Besides my current presence
All we can see is our neglect
And abandonment
The absolute state of our house says it all
We built something
Only to live in it
