[ Featuring a Piano ]
It begins to fall
The snow is in control, the people at its beck and call
We say a prayer
Deliver us, old furnace, blow your breath into our air
The schools are closed
Teachers and parents are inversely juxtaposed
Yet all is right
For the first time in forever we're all fighting the same fight
Congregate out in the drives
Crooked backs and squinted eyes
Crack a smile by surprise
When we suffer together we seem to do better
Here comes the rain
Spinning like a washer in this evil hurricane
Board up the glass
Delicate apartments may not even stand a chance
Courageous souls
Will try to ride it out while others leave behind their homes
In all this strife
For the first time in forever we're all fighting the same fight
Congregate on higher ground
Hopeful glances all around
Brought some spirit to this town
When we suffer together we seem to do better
Why does it take a catastrophe to remind us of who we have to be
It's kinda sick to see it play out like it does
Cause when the snow melts and floods recede we move right on like it was just a dream
I kinda wish it'd always stay the way it was
Maybe it never really was...
Congregate when times are tough
But not before or for too long
God forbid we get along
When we suffer together we seem to do better
