Daron Reveur - Rose in the Concrete Lyrics

Daron Reveur - Rose in the Concrete Lyrics

Wanna take a take five to reflect
Think about every no and reject
Think about every time that I fought and I lost
And it all and crashed down for a reset
Wanna take a pit stop on the sidewalk
Recall every speech, every side talk
Every bedroom show for the walls of my room
It was all I could do and could be yet

Take it back to the days in a classroom
I was always the weird and the sad dude
Had to hide all my pain put it deep in my brain
I was scared of the world and I had to
Couldn't say all I thought so I wrote it down
Carried on to this day, I still do it now
When the world gets cold and the tears grow old
And my worn out soul is past due

Never really had the confidence to start doing music
Till I made my mind up
Realized it was Junior year I had nothing else
And so I went and signed up
Always had the gift of writing just needed music to elevate it
Found my stress relief, brought out the best in me
I'll do this 'till my time's up

Nowadays when I write it out
Tend to share it all with the people
Spill my heart a little on a couple tracks
Try to save the rest for the sequels
Looking back at me from a year ago and
There's not a chance that we're equal
Was a child then, guess that I still am
But I'm proud of that, so I keep it

I feel like a rose in the concrete Feeling like I've grown so much
Know that all my roots grow so deep
Even though it's been so rough
Know that I ain't made it too far
Got so much left to go
But I'm hoping that you're proud of me now
That I've turned into this blooming rose

Nice view of the older me
My past doesn't still get ahold of me
Even if things get a bit hard sometimes
Never ever wanna be that colder me
Never listen to the lies that are told to me
Never mind a little bit of cold shoulder see
Just keep my head down, where I head now's
My move, not where I'm supposed to be

Know that I'm not too famous yet but I'll make it big, I promise
When I'm on that stage, on a cover page I'll still be the real me and honest
Back in school, yeah I learned a lot but
There ain't a class I was taught this
Know that I'll be doing what I love to do
Take the coldest mic and I'll make it the hottest

Yeah it's been hard, yeah it's been sad
Been there and I did that
Write pain and I sing songs for the bad days that's why I rap
'Cause it gets real and what I feel's weighing so much that I might snap
Take a moment then and I breathe it in
When I'm tired out, run another lap

Nowadays when I write it out I actually feel better
Music's just the way I medicate
How I put my pain into letters
Spill my heart but I don't make a mess
Slow the beating down inside my chest
Focus on my goal to be the best
Think I'm stopping now, that's a never

I feel like a rose in the concrete
Feeling like I've grown so much
Know that all my roots grow so deep
Even though it's been so rough
Know that I ain't made it too far
Got so much left to go
But I'm hoping that you're proud of me now
That I've turned into this blooming rose

Hoping that you're proud of me
Hoping that you're proud of me
Hoping that you're proud of me
Hoping that you're proud

I feel like a rose in the concrete
Feeling like I've grown so much
Know that all my roots grow so deep
Even though it's been so rough
Know that I ain't made it too far
Got so much left to go
But I'm hoping that you're proud of me now
That I've turned into this blooming rose
