Sitting amongst the great and the good
Here they're looking back at me
The silence in my head is deafening
Looking on the world here from where I sit
Use their eyes to reflect on the lives passed by
Trying to find what I'm seeking getting left behind
I realise the ones with me were tragically left behind
In trying to square the triangle do I miss the point
The ultimate sacrifice I come here to anoint
The bravery and fortitude of ones so young
Your hopes and ambitions taken away
Now perfectly aligned in your angel wings
Sitting here takes me to fields of mud and hell
Tales repeatedly told over the past 100 years
From victory to glorious disasters fought so well
A privilege to sit here in the glow of your light
Thankful for the life I have from your sacrifice
Amongst the Great and Good with utmost respect
The world you went to shape taken away too soon
As I drift across the names your faces are as one
How many still recalled in pride by grateful family
Monuments across the country and in foreign field
A focus of hope for our profound remembrance
Your service and sacrifice must never been forgotten
