I'm making my way downtown
Nobody else is around
It's two in the morning in a hurricane warning
And I'm feeling free
I stumbled upon old man selling roses
He said take one for your mother, one for your lover
And he smiled back at me
And he said
It gets so hard sometimes
With nothing to live for but your dreams
And everything to keeps falling apart
If you cannot see the light surrounding you tonight
Know that the darkest hour is right before the dawn
I fell asleep on the plane
Cause they're way too fast for my brain
I woke up from dreaming, heard somebody screaming
And thought I would die
So I cracked the window open wide
Falling 10,000 feet through the sky
I saw nothing but ocean, all in slow motion, and I closed my eyes
It gets so hard sometimes
When you can't determine life from a dream
And everything you see is fading away
If living is easier with both of your eyes closed
What do you do if you can't sleep
You could have a cabin way out in the woods
Your own little island like anybody could
If they had enough money
But would it bring you closer to God
I'm not against the Art of Running Away
I myself prefer the nights on the Lost Highway
But sooner or later you get back to where you belong
Sometimes we feel so confused
Other times we feel so abused
So brutally beat down, we put our feet down
And drive through the night
We go where no one can follow
Head back to the city we know
The bells are all ringing, the traffic is singing
It feels so alive
It feels so good when you say
That you've got a friend to lean on
And everything you do will turn out fine
If you can not feel the love around you in your life
Know that you're loved and always will be
Cause you could have a cabin way out in the woods
Your own little island like anybody could
If you had enough money
But would it bring you closer to God
I'm not against the art of running away
I myself prefer the nights on the Lost Highway
But sooner or later you get back to where you belong
