Lines in hands and cracks in walls, I hear the traffic come to halt
Stopping, starting to explain the roots that keep me grounded
In a way I'd say I am the kite floating up in the night sky
At the same time I am the grate that your feet touch every time that you leave
From the room I look straight down at the people on the ground
A loudmouth man with sturdy frame, a woman draped on him like a lampshade
I lie still studying these roads like veins, capillaries
This antiquated normalcy that never got me from point a to b.
So I'll walk down and explore the landscape
The skyline looks so picturesque but I'm stuck wondering
If you're alone at home, twenty streets inbetween
My rooftop and your room in this noisy city
It seems there's more at stake than there's ever been before
I'd love to take you with me down these capillary roads
Down to where it all ends and the stars cover the sky
'Cause the city skyline ain't nothing
Compared to your eyes
