David A. Bell - Last Day of Summer Lyrics

It's the last day of summer, my friends and I, we ran across the town
It's the last day of summer, we got lost, never to be found
I'm tired and I'm weary, my eyes make things up as I look around
When will I break down?
When I no longer see the bright lights of downtown

Started with depression, beginning at the first crack of dawn
Cleaning out the studio, months of work suddenly had gone
Friends ignore each other, I don't even care about what's going on
Where do I belong?
If not with friends that yell at each other till dawn

Went over to a friend's house, setting up for another practice day
I still see no sunlight, sky above us is nothing but gray
What happened to the summer that made our happiness go along its way?
Where will my mind lay?
I guess I'll have to see another day

Went out for some burgers, things are finally starting to feel right
Friends are being goofballs as the world is losing all its light
I can't stop laughing, things are better now that it's the night
Where is all the fight?
I can't find it, and that's more than alright

Dancing around, feeling unbound, being entertainment for some girls
Playing some music, can't refuse it, get on the table and do a couple of twirls
All these moments of happiness all mixed together in a perfect swirl
I just might uncurl
When I see the pretty face of a lucky girl

One of our friends went to chase a girl, we decided to go and play some pool
Hitting the 8-ball in the wrong pocket, feeling so ironically cool
I watch my brothers laughing while sitting aside on a little stool
I am such a fool
For thinking I can never have fun playing pool

Went down to the Wal-Mart, seeing things that make us twist and shout
Making fun of everything, but trying not to get ourselves kicked out
We found ourselves some music, a friend of mine hid his and slipped out
What's that all about?
Guess feeling free just makes you wanna shout

After that, it was over, we finally went our own separate ways
Driving right beside me, I gave a good friend one final gaze
Drama still ensued, as if nobody had fun on that day
Why'd it go away?
Guess that's what happened on the last summer day
