Sticks and stones may break my bones
Blacken my eyes or bloody my nose
Beat me to a pulp from here to eternity
Shred my skin, Crack my bones
Leave my loved ones all alone
But words are the weapons
That bring me to my knees
Like a venomous snake It's fangs sink deep
Shoots the poison in, makes it fester and seep
How much damage done? It's hard to tell
It may bring my heart to fail,
Paralyze and make me frail
Words have the power to corrode me inside
The words I say have a part to play
They can be as sharp or dull as the day
Cut you like a knife, and leave you there to die
But like a surgeons scalpel blade,
Words can cut the filth away
Healing begins with words of different kind
With the wisdom that comes from above
Pure and gentle, bringing peace
When I'm not always hav-ing my own way
Love and mercy will increase
Words betray and bring dismay
To those who surround us day after day
Foot In our mouth and there it seems to stay
But we have to learn to slay
The words we wish would go away
Speak through Jesus caring loving way
But we become Satan's tool
And when we blast we become the fool
Our lips speak perverse lies
Ax others down to size
But when God's Spirit rules
Our words become rare Jewels
To enrich and bring blessings from above
