I went to Beaver Island to spend some time alone
Just me and my old friends the trees, a place to search my soul
Wasn't looking for a lover wasn't looking for a friend
Just tired of running in the human race, and I need some time to mend
A wise old young man told me home is were the heart abides
So he built himself a cabin there, nestled in the woods
Just to touch the Northern lights
Don't it feel like we spend our time looking
Looking for a place to call our own
Don't it seem like we spend our lives dreaming
Dreaming that it's waiting down the road
So I went to Beaver Island, feel the sand between my toes
A young old couple told me, When you leave the nest son
You never can go home
Didn't know what I would find there between the water and the sky
Guess the biggest part of living is just to keep on moving
Without ever knowing why, without ever knowing why
Don't it feel like we spend our time looking
Looking for a place to call our own
Don't it seem like we spend our lives dreaming
Dreaming that it's waiting down the road
Everybody needs an island and everybody needs a home
A place to play your music and a space between the notes
So I'm standing on the ferry, watch the bay fill up with rain
I think I left my heart there
Guess I'll pass this way again, guess I'll pass this way again
