A group of old friends let out a big laugh
You watch from a ways and pick handfuls of grass
There's things that they know that just can't be explained
You'll never quite get their mysterious ways
You put trust in the ones who promise they're friends
But they laugh at you too and you don't understand
When they mock you it hurts, but at least they don't leave
So you put on a show to make sure that they're pleased
You learn all the ways you're supposed to behave
But you can't make the pieces fit into their place
So you break it apart and you try it again
But each time you break it, that part of you ends
The strangers and giants promise different ways
You follow their path for the answers you crave
The strangers and giants act just like the rest
And you once again wonder what you could have missed
They'll welcome you in as long as you're new
You might be a savant or so pitifuly cute
They'll prop you up high, show you off to the world
But show signs of struggle, you're thrown to the wolves
A group of old friends let out a big laugh
You watch from a ways and pick handfuls of grass
There's things that they know that just can't be explained
You'll never quite get their mysterious ways
