Don McCollom - Chomp Lyrics

Don McCollom - Chomp Lyrics

Way out in the woods and down by the swamp
Was a man named Red and a gator called Chomp
They lived all alone never bothered no one
And then one day caught a glimpse of the sun

They traveled to town the people freaked out
Old Chomp on a leash and Red full of doubt
The sheriff came quick to checkout the fuss
Then Chomp took a bite and ate a school bus

The kids were at school no driver was there
The bus was a loss insurance would bare
Chomp so hungry looking around
The mayor showed up to calm the town down

With a clickity clack and a snap and a pop
Old Chomp ate a dump truck parked in a lot
The sheriff was screaming the mayor perturbed
Red kept explaining why Chomp was disturbed

He never saw nothing bigger than he
Lived in a swamp right under a tree
Ate all the fish and birds that don't fly
Heard all the airplanes as they flew by

The mayor said airplanes how is that so
Old Red said he's hungry he'll give it a go
The sheriff said wow this I got to see
Then off to the airport they all did flee

He ate a camaro a house and a train
Nothing far fetched like eating a plane
When they arrived old Chomp was so fat
He let out a belch and spit out a cat

Upon a runway he saw a big plane
Engines were roaring Chomp looked insane
He dragged old Red down the tarmac
He gobbled the plane as a mater of fact

The mayor and the sheriff thought it was great
But Red pointed out the people he ate
The mayor really freaked and pointed at Red
You are responsible those people are dead

Chomp looked at Red and gave him wink
He swallowed the sheriff and mayor in a blink
Their day was full of carnage and fun
Off to the swamp they both did run

Chomp never caught or punished by law
Red became mayor by a coup d'etat
No crime on the streets no noise in the air
Freedom was lost by a fear we all share
