The Downcast - Price Lyrics

They gave us our hopes. They gave us their dreams. They sung us to sleep with their dreams. This is what you want. This is what you must settle for. For now was forty years but their whispers never mentioned that. All the good men have been murdered. All the good men have been slain. All the color has turned to gray. Time is such a small price to pay. You were willing to sacrifice. You were willing to give it all. They said a few years slip away. Time is such a small price to pay. Will you die with a smile on your face, content with every moment you spent. Or will you die hard with regret, knowing that time cannot be replaced. If I can't see myself anymore, how can I look at you? If I can't hear myself anymore, how can I listen to you? If I can't touch myself anymore, how can I touch you? If I can't feel myself anymore, how can I feel for you? I've been pushed by the push and shove. I've been ground by the grind. Push. Shove. Push. Shove.

Finding the balance between family, work and self was a struggle for the adults in my life growing up. I'm not sure I'm doing much better but I'm trying. I wrote this song originally about my dad but now it seems more like its about me.
