There's a dead manatee under that cypress tree
And that raccoon grabbed his little chest and died
There's a dead rattlesnake - fish are bobbin' in the lake
And a lotta birds are just too sick to fly
There's a poisoned poison toad lying flattened on the road
And a bloated possum rottin' in the clover
It really is a shame - Florida just ain't the same
Ever since the yankees moved down and took over!
What used to be a beach is now completely out of reach
Ever since the condos covered up the land
The coquinas are all gone - concrete's replaced the lawns
And the seagulls are a'droppin' on the sand
Where you used to smell salt air - now there's suntan oil to spare
And you'll almost never hear a southern drawl
It isn't hard to tell that the whole state's gone to hell
The developers have sacrificed us all
We've got forests getting thin - we've got sinkholes caving in
And our aquifer is getting kinda low
Mother Nature's on the ropes - but I haven't yet lost hope
That she might rise up and fight the common foe
And send a force five hurricane to hit land around Key Biscayne
And run right up the coast until Daytona
And like a giant toilet flush the Yankees will all rush
To sell out cheap and move to Arizona!
Yeah like a giant toilet flush the Yankees will all rush
To sell out cheap and move to Arizona!
