Shiny little pools of water
We watch our shadows passing over
Every pool a tiny universe
Every pool so easy to disturb
Though I lower carefully
I still can't help but raise the dirt below
Though I hold my breath for hours
And the dirt around me settles down like snow
Shiny little pool, now's the time when you don't move
Perhaps there were pieces of you
Who knew me when I was a little boy?
Perhaps you fell from my eyes?
Or moved through my skin as I perspired?
Each day little pieces of you
Break away and move toward the sky
Soon all that's left are chalky markings,
Circles which showed the way you dried.
Shiny little pool tell me of the world
