• "Killshot" (stylized in all caps) is a diss track written by American rapper Eminem and produced by Illa da Producer. The song is Eminem's response to "Rap Devil" by
Machine Gun Kelly.
• In 2012, Machine Gun Kelly made a tweet about Eminem's daughter, Hailie Mathers. The tweet read, "ok so I just saw a picture of Eminem's daughter...and I have to say, she is hot as f*ck, in the most respectful way possible cuz Em is king." Mathers was 16 at the time while Kelly was 22.
• On August 31, 2018, Eminem released a surprise album Kamikaze in which he dissed several artists, including Kelly. On the song "Not Alike", Eminem made several disses aimed at Kelly. A few days later, Kelly responded to "Not Alike" with the song "Rap Devil", releasing a music video for the song as well on September 3, 2018. On September 14, 2018, Eminem released "Killshot" in response. On September 19, 2018, the song was officially released as a single.
• "Killshot" debuted at number three on the US Billboard Hot 100 in its first week after gaining over 38.1 million views within the first 24 hours of releasing on YouTube, making it the eighth most-viewed video in the first 24 hours, and the most for an audio only release on the YouTube platform. "Killshot" broke the Genius record for being the fastest song to hit a million pageviews, hitting a million in just 8 hours, beating the previous records from Pusha T's "The Story of Adidon", gaining a million in 41 hours and
Childish Gambino's "This Is America", hitting it in 45 hours.
As of September 25, 2018, "Killshot" has been viewed on YouTube over 110 million times.
