I dreamed I was making my way
Down a long, long sidewalk
Some children still young enough to play
Had my outline drawn in chalk
Like someone had shot me dead
Like I'd been there before
Then the youngest one stood up and said
"Don't you come around here no more"
I ran into a girl
With a flower in her hair
Her right hand clutched her bible tight
And her left hand read "beware"
Her mouth began to twitch
And open like a wound
The only sentence that she could form was
"Love can kill you, too"
Confused, I walked some more
Til I saw an empty house
A mirror hung upon the door
To display who'd been locked out
A cheap little sign on the window sill
Held together with some glue
Said "this house is home to those prepared
For the day that came too soon"
