A light in the doorway
A spark in the darkness
A fleet-footed fox of day
Darting through my subconscious
Scarce scarlet perfection
In such a vapid grey
Walking in two dimensions
But the edges are frayed
And what she's made of
Is thicker than blood and water
Is spilled out as I watch her
Is all that she can offer
Now I curse the heavy footfalls of a spirit manifested
Haunted by white night gowns at ten o'clock
Watch the hands tick tightly as time trickles by nightly
Though she is no ocean, I'm a rock
So I walk beside her
I wrap her hand in mine
My mind falls in twists and turns
Now caught on a line
I don't try to pry it
From my flowering heart
Tangled up inside it
I'm ready to restart
And what she's made of
Is thicker than blood and water
Is spilled out as I watch her
Is all that she can offer
Now I've heard the heavy footfalls of a spirit manifested
Dreaming of white night gowns at ten o' clock
Watch the hands tick tightly as time trickles by nightly
So she is my ocean, I'm her rock
