The left turns I'm taking out of my home town don't seem right
I think I forgot something and it's slipping my mind
I packed up all my new clothes got rid of ones I'd outgrown

Big cardboard boxes are covering up my rear view now
The city lights behind me are getting dimmer as I go south
Outside is looking different I don't recognize it
I guess that happens when you leave home

As I'm driving far and further
Baby steps but this feels bigger
Growing up is coming quicker
I'm in a big city now

I've always been the worst at answering my phone
But now I stare at it and wait for calls from home
