Begging for passage to more tolerant lands

Tumbling out of the boat into the foam
She gazes around taking in her new home
The witch's apprentice feels she's truly blessed
She makes her way inland to finally rest

The kindness of strangers soon starts being repaid
Treating and guiding them in the old ways
Helping the sick, the desperate and poor
Her new friends and neighbours who know nature's lore

As the decades fall by she continues her craft
The old witch's spirit living on in her heart
Her own young apprentice has everything filed
