We took the misty mountain trail right up to the peak
We searched for miles and miles to keep this state of clarity
But after sometime we realized it was all effervescent to see
For this moment had to pass just like the rest of the scenery
And now we waste our days, searching for that same place
About a week or so we waded at the top
We watched the trees as they turned, marooned to auburn
A palate of colors so rich in suspended animation
Then we climbed back down and left without any hesitation
And now we waste our days, searching for that same place
Glad we found our way home
We ate the fruit and let the chaos unfold
Sweet to the taste, Bitter it'll never taste the same again
And round and round, we'll take you around but there's nowhere left to go
The misty mountain trail has taken us right back to shore
