You gave me a watch
On my twenty sixth birthday
Now I can see the seconds pass away
There goes the hour
There goes the day
A month went by while I was looking the other way
It's hard to know how I should spend my days
Because the truth, it won't stay in one place
We try to pin it down
Interrogate
We talk for hours, 'til five am
Trying to get the facts straight
I brush my teeth and come face to face with myself
It seems late nights, philosophy and gin
Aren't great for my health
It looks like time punched me in the face
Gave me two black eyes as evidence of fun mistakes
My sorry face smiles back at me
My heart's still beating
My watch is still ticking
I've got another day at least
Time takes its toll
Someday it will take me
But you can bet on my deathbed I won't regret
The time I've spent with friends and family
