Huckvale - Out of the Derelict Lyrics

Huckvale - Out of the Derelict Lyrics

For days I was wrapped in the infinitude of that baptismal light
When I woke
The buildings were white around me
Where the brick was exposed
It had the colour of engorged flesh
The flower growing out of it
Its roots growing into it
Out of the derelict
The absurd circle
In Spring
The issue of the fertile world
Its asphyxiating fecundity
On trees
The blossoms fizzed into life
Flicking the air
I could hear them
Smell them
And touch them
And as they became familiar
The stars became remote
The same patterns
The smudges and tracks
I found on the screen of my shelter
I saw enlarged here against the screen of the atmosphere
And I no longer knew where to send my songs
Firing them in the dark towards the bright monochrome moon
Which drooped and started like a narcoleptic eye
It was as heavy as a rock or anchor
Around it
So that sometimes it was lost like an island
The sky was a tide that slowly rose and fell
