Well I just cleaned house at the jewelry store
It was a mighty take, hell a wicked score
And I was in need of a way to get the heck out of dodge
My buddy had failed to find a getaway car
But to find myself one, I didn't search to far
As across the street was an automobile garage
Well I looked all through that entire lot
Tons of vehicles with rust and rot
But towards the back I saw a couple that just might do
The first was a 70's Ford Torino
The other, a Chevy El Camino
And I chose the Ford as it was tried and true
I hopped on in and opened up the dash
And had her hot wired as quick as a flash
I peeled on out as fast as she could go
Well come on you old Ford, don't let me down
We gotta make it out of town
And we'll be safe once we hit Mexico
Now it wasn't long 'til smokies were on my tail
And getting caught meant going to jail
So I led the chase right down the interstate
With my tires hot and my engine mean
I was sure working that old machine
And I thought freedom was my done sealed fate
All of sudden the engine gave a wheeze
And it wouldn't turn over, and I knew it had seized
And I knew my trip was done in this old Ford
Well I tried to hoof it, but I wasn't that quick
They caught me and threw me in their old Crown Vic
And under my breath I uttered a four letter word
Well an officer came over to start a report
But I wasn't helpful with my quick retort
And I saw him motion to tow away my Torino
The officer started reading me my rights
When out of the corner of my eye, I saw an awful sight
As what should pass, none other than that El Camino
25 years is what I must serve
But let me tell you the lesson I've learned
About how to avoid a sentence that's oh so heavy
If you're gonna rob and commit grand theft auto
Let me learn ya all that I know
When you need a getaway car, you best pick a Chevy
Oh I don't think I'll ever drive me another Ford
No sir-ee
