Sun darts fell through twilight
Red flames rolled on the sea
With night an ancient world emerged
And beckoned unto me
"Look up, look up from your concrete gaze
Leave the oil and steel behind
Let my paths take your wandering feet
And my stories fill your mind"
There old towns clung to sheer cliff stone
Sulphur rose up from the ground
A hermits cave looking over the waves
Became my mid-day home
And in its shade I closed my eyes
Let my thoughts swim in the sound
Of the sea and its countless waves
As they lapped against the shore
I walked a long deserted road
Past goats and cypress trees
Climbed a cliff to stand alone
And watch the port below
The wind it wove its weightless threads
Over the earth and sea
Amongst the old walls and sculpted stones
I sat and watched the daylight ebb
"Look up, look up from your tangled thoughts
Leave your troubles for a time
Let the light and the endless blue
Consume the shadows of your mind"
