Black women rise. Poetry to me. Gives us a chance to be free
It's in the chains that binds. Connect the lines that would divide us
Provides us with closure for open wounds and unseen bruises
Stops us from wanting to bring out the nooses
We can't express ourselves creatively. Without ridicule or judgement
Black women rise. All we do is poetry. No, not solely. We like to bust it
Freestyle. Wrap our emotions away with a smile. Shining bright like a lavigne style
Black women rise. For our hearts and minds it's a cleanse
Something we can pass on to friends. To look at us through a new lens
Journeys on paper, it's a traveler's quest. To free the mind, to crucify the flesh
We know it helps us to heal. We learn how to let emotions deal
And eventually begin again to feel. Black women rise
Everything in me is confirmed. Everything in me is affirmed
As I have accepted life on life's terms. Precious is the life I've stolen
I'm taking it, turning it golden. The lives in my hands I'm holding
R precious so I can't be mistaken. Won't let life leave me shaken
My eyes have been awakened. Black women rise
No more rules will I be breaking. This world is so full of fake
It's easy to get mind raped. Don't let the enemy continuously take
Sit down and give yourself a break. Black women rise
Black women rise
Black women rise
