Sewer rats and house cats
Share a moonlit waltz in an underpass
While a band of bums plays their broken cups
Shakes their yellow pennies in dirty rum
Oh the city looks pretty tonight
Lonely men sift through remnants
Of a church bell toll, that holy droll
Hangs overhead, laughs in their face
Tells them time has changed, they're still the same
The city look different tonight
Window dwelling children sit in cellars
Packed with cobweb maps, they
Squint through glints of streetlight
To see Heaven but no luck tonight
Oh the city looks like Heaven to me
The sky unfolds its eyelids
The sun slowly rises over
Snoozing, subdued dog walk
And beeping, bruised alarm clocks
The city woke me up today
