Haunted by mankind's own mistakes
People move on in a slow but steady pace.
Running from hot air and rising despair,
They want cool fields, not only deserts to share.
Clean air and water may be found here and there
And the march goes on from loathing and fear.
Now some folks are looking for a strong superman
Naive they expect freedom to be part of his plan.
Hum the tune of the death row...
Consumption was religion, greed our inner flame.
Of course shallow leaders are partly to blame.
Buying things and gadgets was drug number one.
Solving urgent issues was never ever done.
We had it coming, got what we deserved.
Chaos on the horizon, civilisation not preserved.
What about you, did you ever wonder why
Bad habits went on, but you reckoned you'd get by?
Hum the tune of the death row...
"Spend and consume, get your piece of the cake".
But a big enough cake was impossible to make.
Voting for more goods and lower tax
We stretched out in our hammocks to sleep and relax.
The critics found no resonance
Because all they saw was ignorance.
Now manmade problems pile up on us
But it's a little too late to sit down and discuss.
Hum the tune of the death row...
Well, maybe we won't go extinct, maybe some survive.
With only a few of us around, the earth may heal and thrive.
We thought we were smart with our machines and all,
But not smart enough to see we faced our own fa ll.
Now we try to survive with mankinds curse
And take what is coming for better or worse.
We never found the right course
Or took a firm grip to steer the wheel by force.
Now, hum the tune of the death row...
