Place your heart on the altar
I call on you, my father
I shall not want
I didn't bring you here for sacrifice
No need to say what's written in your eyes
Even in darkness I provide
What God esteems has nothing to do with outward appearance
Your beauty radiates from within
It can't be measured by human ideals
But sometimes it's so hard to accept truth when we feel unworthy
Don't let vanity get a hold of me
Jesus, just hold me please
I'm like the thief on the cross, nothing to offer your ministry
Not a prayer to proceed my lips
And yet, your kindness is something I've never known
Until this moment
For you are a king
And I am a thief
In our agony
Your joy breaks through
Because even through the blood and the swelling and the pain
I've never seen greater love
All I ask is that
When you finally rest in your paradise
You may remember me
Let my final breaths
Be my offering to your blood-stained crown
I cannot give you a lifetime of ministry
But I give you a breath of repentance
I know it's not much
But I give all I am to you
King Jesus
Place your heart on the altar
I call on you, my Father
